One of my 30 Before 30 Project goals that I have been worried about completing is “Number 28. Hike at The Fells 10 times.” I knew it was a lofty goal when I originally made it and it has been tough to find the time to go. Our weekends have been packed and I’ve been wiped from my new job. All lame excuses aside, I knew I just need to make time and go. Having a deadline related to my 30 Before 30 Project was motivating! John and I went this past Saturday and it was great.
The Middlesex Fells Reservation is located about 4 miles from our house and approximately 8 miles from Boston. It’s a 2,575 acre park with trails for hiking, walking, dog walking, running, mountain biking, and skiing.
We decided to start slow with the 1 mile Virginia Wood Trail.
The trail was easy to follow and well marked. Aside from a few hills, it was pretty flat.
Someone had placed there adorable painted rocks all along the trail. It kept a smile on my face the whole time.
It was really nice to be out in nature, doing something active, and spending time with John.
When the trail ended on the top of a big rock, we turned around and took the same path back to our car. The whole walk took about 40 minutes.
We both agreed it was a great place to hike and that we’ll definitely make time to come back again.
One hike down, nine to go!
